The main designer and Business Manager of Darlin Jewellers is Darryl Darby. Beginning in 1988, Darryl apprenticed in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada with master goldsmiths from Hong Kong and Canton, China. After completing his training, Darryl continued to work along side his mentors, creating custom designs for retail jewelry stores. During this time, Darryl learned of an incredible local gemstone called Ammolite. After researching, Darryl established Darlin Jewellers in 1992, dedicating himself to producing custom Ammolite jewelry, and marketing them with great success in Canada's Banff and Jasper National Parks.

In early 1996, Darryl was recognized for his skills and success by The Great Designers Guild, Western Canada's only professional design show. He was awarded first in accesories for his "exciting combination of gold with rare gemstones, the uniqueness of designs and high quality workmanship".
